Mental health is vital for everyone; it is just as—if not more—important than a person’s physical health, as it impacts every aspect of the human experience. At the Women’s Therapy Institute, we want to make therapy accessible. That is why we are excited to launch the sliding scale therapy service.
We don’t receive special funding or grants from outside sources. This service is made possible by the session fees from our clients— we allocate a portion of our earnings to fund our sliding scale therapy service. We are grateful to our clients for their ongoing support.
We want to help our community flourish and see its members live fully, wholeheartedly, and with joy. We are aware of the significant budget cutbacks on mental health services; California recently saw a 21.1 percent reduction in mental health funding. We understand this has the potential to be devastating to people seeking services, so it’s essential to do something to bridge the gap.
Our sliding scale therapy services will be offered to qualified individuals and families at $45-$75 per 50-min individual therapy session depending on their income level. Sessions are provided by pre-licensed mental health professionals (interns) who have completed their Master’s Degree and are supervised by highly trained clinicians. Please note that fees of therapy sessions offered by pre-licensed mental health professionals (interns) are not reimbursable by private insurance, CalVOC, or managed care organizations. Session fees do not count towards to insurance deductible by private insurance.
Why don’t we make this free like our Give-An-Hour (GAH) free therapy service? Sliding scale is provided by our intern and we want to pay our intern a decent hourly wage for the work. GAH is provided by the founder, Mabel Yiu, MFT. Mabel Yiu is ok not getting paid for the GAH hours.
